About Us

Tricia Fitzgerald has spent her career working in and with not-for-profits. This includes stints as a branch manager, Chief Executive of a national not-for-profit, and board member and chair of a large regional not-for-profit. In addition, for 15 years she has been a management consultant in Fitzgerald and Associates, providing strategic and business planning, organisational solutions, governance development, facilitation and project management to the not-for-profit sector.

With an MBA and experience of both starting and operating a social enterprise, as well as governing (including chairing) one, she’s become committed to helping to develop a vibrant and successful social enterprise sector that pursues a social mission and commercial profit simultaneously. It is time for new economic models that are good for both people and planet to become more widespread.

Tricia is currently Chair of Social Enterprise Auckland and has recently completed a PhD at the business school within the University of Auckland where she looked at how not-for-profits develop social enterprises as an integral part of their operation. She has developed a model for addressing the accommodation of commercial approaches within a social organisation.
